With numerous guests, exciting screenings, emotions and dances, the 8th edition of the Burgas International Film Festival ended. In a closing ceremony on the stage of the Culture House, the films that made the strongest impression on the jury and the audience were awarded.
The Danish tape “COPENHAGEN DOES NOT EXIST” won the grand prize of the jury composed of Viktor Bozhinov, Militsa Tomovic and Attila Hartung. In a special video greeting, the film’s director, Martin Skovbjerg, thanked the festival’s audience.
Special diplomas were awarded to two more titles:
EISMAYER by the Austrian director David Wagner and
FIRST AGE by Alexander David (Portugal).
In the short film section, the jury consisting of Bulut Reyhanoglu, Nikolay Urumov and Petar Grudov distinguished the films:
AUGUST 13th debut of director Vencislav Sariev and
WHEN YOU LOVE, YOU MUST GO on the director’s tandem
Joseph Rose and Pablo Cotten.
Special awards were given to:
CODE OF SILENCE directed by Leonard Mink (Germany)
ON THE THRONE OF XERXES – directed by Evi Kalogiropoulos (Greece)
ROOFTOP – directed by Nevena Nikolova
The prize of the youth jury consisting of: Nikol Nikolova, Ralitsa Arnaudova, Victoria Velcheva, Nikol Topalova and Konstantin Krastev went to the film BROTHERS by the Kazakh director Darkhan Tulegenov
And for the final, the film LIUBEN, the debut of director Venci D. Kostov, won the audience’s vote.
