The main goal of Burgas International Film Festival is to develop a sustainable platform for presentation of feature and documentary movies by acquainting the audience with the modern cinema art of the Black Sea countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey and Greece).

The Festival will be held from 22th till 29th of July at Open-air scene “The Snail” and at the “Sea Casino” Cultural center, Burgas.

The mission of The Festival is to turn Burgas into cultural venue of filmmakers and movie fans from the aforementioned countries.

The main scope of the Festival is to present the current trends in the Bulgarian and international cinema practice and to provoke intercultural dialogue.

Patric Chiha – Austria

With his last three films “Brothers of the night”, “Boys like us” and “Domain” Patrick Chiha participated and was awarded at numerous world festivals that established his name as a director with potential. Two of the world premieres of his films were on the festivals of Venice and “Berlinale”.

Andrea De Sica – Italy

He is a director and writer. His carrier starts with the short film „Hell belongs other people”. In 2011 he shot 26 episodes of the TV novel “Mia and me”, and in 2017 is the debut of his feature film “The children of the night”, which received a lot of nominations for debut and best director.

Anna Goranova – Bulgaria

Anna Goranova had been working for 8 years at the Bulgarian National Television as an editor and director. In 2012 was nominated by the Bulgarian Film Academy for Best documentary director of “Ivan Radoev – the poet shoots into the heart”. Editor of the documentary “Crazy day” and director of the editor of the documentary series ETNO, which studies different communities, religions and traditions. In the last 5 years Anna has been working in Minneapolis, USA. In April 2016 at the “Minneapolis – Saint Paul International Film Festival” was the premiere of “The Sand Box”, of which she is an associate producer.

Jury member of BIFF 2016 and 2017.

André Marques – Portugal

The Portuguese director is a typical example of a modern director, screenwriter, musician and photographer working in feature, experimental and documentary cinema. His films are present in the selection of the prestigious festivals in Venice, Berlin, Palm Springs, Gijon etc. He has been honored with prizes in his motherland Portugal, and the cult magazine “Vice” published his photographs.

In 2016 he was selected for “Berlinale talents”.

Todor Dimitrov – Bulgaria

In 2001 he graduated in Drama Acting in the class of Professor Azaryan. Since 2003 he has been an assistant in Drama Acting at the Plovdiv University “Paisyi Hilendarski”, and in 2012 also an assistant at the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts “Kr. Sarafov (NATFA). Since 2016 he has been an assistant professor at NATFA in Film Directing.

He puts on stage “The Rape of Lucrece” and “Under the Floor of Heaven” by W. Shakespeare, Chekhov’s “Cherry Orchard”, “An Ideal Husband” by Oscar Wilde. Аuthor of numerous short documentary and feature films.

In 2013 his film “Morning” won the Best Film Award at Early Bird Festival 2013.

In 2016 “White Elephants” was selected in the competition program of International Sofia Film Fest.

Georgi Stoev (Jackie) – Bulgaria

Author of more than 50 science fiction, documentaries and feature films, as well as cartoon exhibitions in Sofia and Vienna.

Some of the most significant films of Jackie Stoev and the Bulgarian cinematography are:

“Rituals of Love”, “Counted Days”, “Our Shoshkanini”, “The adventures of Spas and Nelly”, “Divorces, Divorces”, “Fly with Rosinant” and others.

Winner of numerous awards – „Golden Rhyton“ etc.
