The main goal of Burgas International Film Festival is to develop a sustainable platform for presentation of feature and  short movies by acquainting the audience with the modern cinema art.

The mission of The Festival is to turn Burgas into cultural venue of filmmakers and movie fans from the aforementioned countries.

The main scope of the Festival is to present the current trends in the Bulgarian and international cinema practice and to provoke intercultural dialogue.

The third edition will be held from 19th till 25th of July 2019 at Open-air stage“The Snail”, “Sea Casino” Cultural center, St. Anastasia island.

Pippo Mezzapesa is an italian film director and screenwriter. His short films have been well received from the movie critics and has been presented all over the world. In 2004 Pippo Mezzapesa wins the Davide di Donatelo award for his short film Zinana. He is the autor of the feature and documentary movies such as: La giornata; Punuccio Lovero Yes I Can; Annalisa.

His artistic career starts with the short film 105th. In 2009 he completes his first feature film The Conflict Zone, and in 2015 The Summer of Frozen Fountains which receives a numerous awards and nominations from festivals like: Sofia Film Fest, Sochi Film Festival, Thalin Black Night Film Festival, San Fransisco Film Festival, Shanghai and others. In 2016 the movie was a part of the BIFF official selection.

Pawel Kita is a marketing manager with more than fourteen years experience. During his activities with leading companies from Central and Eastern Europe region, he successfully accomplished a numerous marketing projects in countries like Poland, Romania, Austria and others. Currently he works for the company Canon: a world-wide innovator and provider of imaging solutions for cinema and photography. His big passions are cinema and jazz music

Hristo Iliev - Charlie

Hristo Iliev- Charlie is the author of about 400 scenarios for feature, documentary, animated and popular science movies such as: The adventures of Spas and Nely; Divorces, divorces; Only jazz, The eternal musician, Тhe Ghosts in Sofia’s Old Houses, Bread and circuses, Village people and others, which are award winners from many festivals in Bulgaria and abroad. He is the author of the chronicle Mosaic 1980-1992.  In 2014 he won the the Bulgarian movie academy award for best scenario for the movie Тhe Ghosts in Sofia’s Old Houses. Charli is one of the most productive and original screenwriters in Bulgaria.The sea is one of the favorite theme in his movie.

Anna Goranova is a Bulgarian editor and director who has worked eight years for Bulgarian National Television. In 2012 she was nominated for Best Documentary Director by the Bulgarian Film Academy for her documentary about the playwright Ivan Radoev, The Poet Shoots in His Heart. She is the editor of the Bulgarian feature film Crazy Day and director and editor of documentary series ETNO, exploring communities of different cultures, religions, and traditions. Last 4 years, Anna has been working as a film professional in MN, USA.

Designed as a platform for the creative freedom of young artist filmmakers, Pedro F. Duarte and the producer Joana Gusmão have established the independent film production company Primeira Idade (meaning “First Age” in Portuguese), which was born of the experience gathered, in his case, by producing several features and assisting a number of acclaimed filmmakers. Being a cinephile, he also produced the film programme Harvard at the Gulbenkian with the Harvard Film Archive. Member of the board of APORDOC. Producer of the films Snakeskin directed by Daniel Hui (105 mins, Singapore & Portugal, 2014), The Invisible Life directed by Vítor Gonçalves (99 mins, Portugal, 2013), This Side of Resurrection directed by Joaquim Sapinho (111 mins, Portugal, 2011). His company Primeira Idade is working on the debut fiction features of Carlos Conceição (Good Night, Cinderella – Cannes’ Semaine de la Critique 2014), Diogo Costa Amarante (The White Roses – in competition, Berlinale 2014) and Mariana Gaivão (Solo – Best Short, Festival du Nouveau Cinema 2012), and on the debut feature documentaries of Margarida Rêgo (The Revolution Hunter – Cannes’ Quinzaine des Realizateurs 2014) and Catarina Vasconcelos (Metaphor or Sadness Inside Out – Best Short, Cinema du Réel 2014).
